== History ==
Ubuntu Touch was first made available as a developer preview on 21 February 2013. A 1.0-style release, Ubuntu Touch 1.0, followed on 17 October 2013.

On 5 April 2017, Canonical announced that it would stop development of Ubuntu Touch. Later that month, development was taken over by the UBports community, which continued maintaining and developing the operating system.

On 30 September 2025, UBports released Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.0, the first stable Ubuntu Touch release based on Ubuntu 24.04.

== Hardware layer ==

Many Ubuntu Touch ports use [[Halium]], which allows the system to reuse parts of Android hardware support. UBports documentation lists [[Halium]] versions connected to Android versions from 7.1 through 13.0. Since Ubuntu Touch 20.04, most ports are normally based on [[Halium 9.0]] or later.

== Apps ==

Ubuntu Touch uses the OpenStore as its app store. OpenStore is community-run and is installed by default on UBports builds.
